Planning Your Trade Fair Stand: Type, Size and Layout
Stand type, size and layout, and how your choice affects budget and support.
Published: 4 min read
Your stand is the first impression you make at a fair. The right type and size determine both visitor traffic and your budget.
Four Stand Types
- Inline stand: open to the aisle on one side. The most economical option.
- Corner stand: open on two sides and visible from two aisles.
- Peninsula stand: open on three sides for greater visibility.
- Island stand: open on all four sides; suited to large-scale participation.
How to Choose the Size
- List the number and size of the products you will display.
- Allow for meeting space: our stand design tool shows how many meeting tables fit in the size you choose.
- Leave room for your team to move around the stand comfortably.
From a Support Perspective
Government support is calculated per m², so the larger the stand, the higher the support amount, up to the per-fair cap. For the calculation method, see: how is overseas trade fair support calculated?
Design Tips
- Your brand and key message should be legible from a distance.
- Products should be positioned so they can be seen from the aisle.
- Find out the organiser's height, material and construction rules before you start designing.
